Frequently Asked Questions

Where do you serve?

We serve all of Mount Desert Island, Trenton, and Lamoine.

How many people does MDNA serve?

In 2023 so far, we have seen a total of 190 patients; over 240 people have used our Loan Closet of medical and adaptive equipment.

How long is a typical care period?

We have most patients under our care for about two to four weeks. However, it depends on the patient. It can range anywhere from two weeks to long-term care. If it is under insurance, if they make progress, they can continue to have our services.

What kind of diagnoses do we address?

Many patients are those who have been discharged from hospitals (including those up and down the east coast) after having joint replacements. Some are patients who have fallen and broken bones in the process. Some are patients with wound issues and require wound care. Some are those with chronic medical issues and we see them on a regular basis. We coordinate all care with the patient’s doctor.

Do you take health insurance?

Yes, we work with the following insurances: Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Harvard Pilgrim, Humana, Mainecare, Martin's Point, Medicare, myNexus Anthem, and United Healthcare. We also work with private pay patients.

What are your loan closet hours?

Our loan closet hours are Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 9:30-11:30am and Tuesday/Thursday from 1:30-3:30pm.

What are some of your greatest milestones over the last 10 years?

MDNA has seen much growth over the past decade. We began accepting Medicare in 2017. In 2018, we began offering occupational therapy in addition to skilled nursing care. In 2022, we extended our service area to include Trenton and Lamoine.
